Biography: With a love of nature and broad-ranging metaphysical beliefs, Maggie Oster has spent a lifetime studying and interpreting gardens and gardening. She has a bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and a master of science degree from Cornell University, both in horticulture. Her writing and photography have encompassed a wide range of topics, culminating in eighteen books, including Reflections of the Spirit: Japanese Gardens in America. She has contributed to books, written newspaper and magazine articles, appeared on television, and served as a regional editor for the website of the National Gardening Association. Many of her books and articles feature her own photography.
